another 16th DEC

After the verdict of death penalty in 16th Dec rape case
people seem very relieved. Well, I am not.
Because I know it won't stop from further committing of such crimes.
After every such crime, people come out on the road, do candle march, shout slogans against the culprits, police or system. Followed by huge media coverage, playing blame games, interviewing every single person walking on the road whether or not related with the case in anyways. That seems the most obvious way of showing our rage.
I too feel this rage and I feel myself unsafe going out no matter what hour of the day.
But I don’t think this will help us in anyways to find a permanent solution to this problem.
In my opinion, we should question ourselves first before pointing at anyone/thing else.
What have we done to prevent such crime?
Do we really think that all we need is a change in laws to stop such crimes?
I am afraid changing the law won't change mind set of people walking on the road.
Change has to happen within, at the root level.
Every parent in this Country should ask themselves one question and it is not that whether such a thing could happen to their daughter and so we should restrain her movement BUT if our son could commit such a heinous act against any girl and so should we consider restraining him from walking out of the house freely????
We give all sorts of  preposterous excuses for such crime. Often pointing at back at women victim themselves like they dress provocatively, they go out for parties at night, they work till late hours etc etc. None of them is worthy enough to be able to point towards the actually reason I guess. Also it doesn’t explain why young girl children are being targeted.
Here it seems as if we all are trying to solve a problem without even knowing what the actual problem is.
Let’s stop being hypocrites and face our conscience.
Do we ever bother to question our son about his whereabouts, his friend circle. Watch out for his timings  of going out and coming back home.
Mother knows her child best. Isn’t it her responsibility to not only see to the safety and well being of her daughter  BUT to keep other's daughters safe from his own son.
If men can not behave it is they who should suffer why always women....
Enough is enough
Men have been behaving like mad dogs.
It is high time now to put them under restrain.
It is a bitter truth unfortunately BUT  for most of the crimes against women in our society, women are equally to be blamed. If they haven’t shirk from their responsibilities towards fellow women and not been bias towards their son or grandson, may be condition of women in our society would have been better.
What a shame…. not respecting another women, despite being a woman.
Family is the root of society, women are back bone of family. They are responsible to raise their children. They wish them to be well fed, well educated, well settled BUT do they see to it whether their children grow up to be responsible citizen, a good human being.
Are they doing their bit, honestly?
Unless we can answer such questions mentioned above we have no right to criticize the law or government, system, police or even men because we are part of this problem.
Such crimes will happen..
Women will keep suffering..
They will keep dying..
Only until we stand up for our fellow women and so for ourselves. Because no one else will if not US….

the 'GURU'....

Manatha Sri Jagan Natha
-My Lord is the Lord of Creation
Mad Guru Sri Jagad Guru
-My Master is the Master of the Universe
Madathma Sarva Bhutatma
-My Soul is the Soul of Every Living Being
Tas Mai Sri Guruve Namah
-I Bow Down to the Glory of My Guru Dev

Today is GURU PURNIMA!....
Time to celebrate and cherish the presence of GURU TATTVA in our lives. I feel so blessed to have it and so does everybody else, in some form or the other whether they acknowledge it or not.
Guru is not just one person or a human being.
The literal meaning of Guru is gyaan, whether through a human being or otherwise. It is a source of knowledge and awareness in our lives. There can be various such sources. We can learn from everything, living or non-living. Anything or anyone who teaches us or is a source of any learning experience in our lives could be our guru.
Life is suppose to be a learning experience. It is a continuous process. We need to maintain our outlook as a student.
On this occasion, I would like to acknowledge the GURU TATTVA present in my life. Not just for today but for every coming day for the next year and the rest of my life…. Jai gurudev :)

FAITH....

When you don’t know
Which way to go..
Have some faith
On the flow..
It won’t be easy
Yes I know
Still it would be the best thing to do
When you fail to trust
And feel aghast..
Have some faith
DIVINE  will do the rest..
It won’t be easy
Yes I know
Still keep going, you must
For you never sure
What you want more..
Have some faith
Keep your intentions pure..
It won’t be easy
Yes I know
Still let the DIVINE sail you shore
Let you heart be filled with love
Let your soul rise above..
Have some more faith
Soar in the sky freely like a Dove
It won’t be easy
Yes I know
Still let the DIVINE catch your fall in its glove
Have absolute faith and you will be safe
Forever….

Books i read....

Half of the year has gone and I have read 6 books till now which was my so called aim for this entire year. I am so happy that I was able to accomplish it sooner than my expectation.
Also I am thinking about recording my feelings and response about the books along with reading them. And I can turn my notes into a new blog….

To start with the recent one I have read ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ by Amish Tripathi .

It is a fictional story based upon Indian mythological stories of Lord Shiva which is the central character of this trilogy.
First of all it is a very well narrated story. All the facts and figures are depicted in nice and crisp way without any melodrama. It is subtle not loud. All the characters are placed beautifully, one can recognize them instantly.
Of all the characters I liked the central character the most i.e Shiva. He is strong, intelligent, leader yet vulnerable. Talking about mythological characters yet making them believable is just so mesmerizing.

Story is about a typical fight between right and wrong which gets twisted towards the end when Shiva gets really confused as to who was right and who was wrong. He experiences an interesting revelation after having a conversation with Pandit ji  at Ramjanambhoomi Temple of Ayodhya. All the places and characters are of historical significance.

The reason that I liked the book is that I am a big Shiva fan. I am a believer yet I am not into idol worship. I believe in humanity, I respect and acknowledge  the Divine part of the human beings. I believe in Ram, Sita, Hanuman, Shiv, Krishna and other mythological characters. But I also realize that they were real human being with rare Divine qualities. By Divine qualities I don’t mean any super powers. I mean the best of human qualities. The central character in this book is one such human being with superior qualities. Shiva is a great leader, fighter, friend, lover, dancer. He is compassionate, practical, witty, sensitive, free from any arrogance. He makes friends, falls in love, gets hurt, feel angry. Very much believable.

May be few people find it awkward reading about their worship God as a human being. It depends upon individual perceptions. I won’t comment about that. But I found it very fascinating to read a mythological story told in a realistic manner. It was very brave for an attempt as we Indians are very sensitive and narrow minded when it comes to our religious feelings. Writer throughout made sure not to offend anybody. The only part which I found unnecessary was the word picture drawn about every building, temple, area of the 2 cities mentioned. May be because I was least interested in knowing about the magnificence of the architecture back then as compared to the characters depicted. I found the thought process of Shiva very remarkable. His ability to understand the situation present and thus the action required in it. The way he handled every situation he was put into, willingly or not, was commendable and something to learn from. We usually loose our cool as soon as we face an unfamiliar or unexpected situation. May be that is the difference between ordinary and Divinity. But that doesn’t mean we cannot attain Divinity ourselves. It is a kind of eye-opener that most of us are yet to discover. We have been living in a culture where the  Divine is separated from human. We are taught that God is somewhere out there in the sky, in temple, in idols. We are taught to look upon everything except within us. Unless we respect humanity we can never experience Divinity. The day we experience Divinity we will be able to feel God in every form. God is not separate from us. How can it be, we are a part of it. Like every wave is a part of the ocean whether it realizes or not. The day it realizes this, duality ends. There is no fear, no complains, no sorrow. Our ignorance is reason for all our sorrows. The day veil gets lifted there will be total and absolute liberation.
Until then we can very well continue to enjoy the mirage..

Beggers are not choosers. So who are we?..

Life is not easy but it can be so simple. Why do we feel the urge to complicate it and then brood over it? We don’t have to victimize ourselves all the time nor feel guilty about anything. Just take everything with ease and keep moving on. How difficult can that be? Our biggest enemy is expectations. The more we expect the more we feel disappointed. We want things to go in a certain manner which they might or not. Leaving us angry, frustrated and sad, in short disappointed. And as soon we get disappointed we start complaining. We start portraying ourselves as victims. Have we ever wondered that just like we have plans for ourselves, it might be possible that life could be having some plans for us too? to be honest apparently it all sound silly, hard to believe forget about following it. It may also mean being a fatalist. But what is actually fate anyways? Isn’t it something we choose for ourselves? Directly or indirectly? Knowingly or unknowingly? Aren’t we responsible for where we are today? I don’t know if anybody will agree with me on this but for me the answer is yes. By being responsible I don’t mean being a culprit. Just being aware of the choices we make at each and every living moment because eventually they will decide our future. Living fully in the present. Being fully aware of every thought, every feeling, every emotion that we base our decisions or choices upon. May be this way we would be less disappointed for what happened. And may be we won't end up feeling sorry for ourselves because we will know that it was our choice in the first place..

All these years most of my friends whenever feeling messed up tend to share their thoughts & feelings with me. Like a true friend I give them a patient hearing with minimum possible intervention. Towards the end of all they often seek my opinion & ask me what should they do? I must admit that it does act as ego booster for me but sometimes it becomes pain in the neck. For the simple fact that I am no expert, I must have had previous birth lives yet I am a novice in myself. I don’t have any formula to fix all the problems arising in one’s life. I too have my own share of things to deal with. So at times I find it annoying when people expect me to act as their adviser. I mostly refuse to do so saying there is no fixed recipe or formula for living life which has been figured out by some & they can just apply it to your life & you’ll get answers to your problems. It is all very personal, varying person to person. You have to make out yourself by trial & error, as to what works for you & what not. Nobody else can do that for you or on your behalf.
I am in no way against providing moral support to someone in crisis but I am strictly against spoon feeding ideas. I agree that at times you do need someone to show you the way out but then if you just wish to cling on someone’s finger throughout instead of walking on your own then that is not fair.
Life is like a journey where you are not aware of the way but you have been provided with a map. The first thing one can do is to learn how to read the map. The map I referred here implies intuitions. It is a very subtle instinct usually felt through one’s heart. But I can say it with full confidence that it is true, usually. This inner voice always guides us towards the right direction if at all we calm ourselves & feel it. It can turn out a huge blessing throughout our lives.
Then I guess one should be adventurous enough to cope with the uncertainties of the way ahead. Nobody knows for sure what is going to happen the very next moment. Life is full of surprises, pleasant & unpleasant both, in store for all of us. Instead of fretting about things just take it as it comes. Remember the famous saying “there are no problems only situations to deal with…”
Indeed it won’t help if you just keep worrying about future & remain apprehensive. Whether you like it or not just get down to work & deal with it, as you can’t run away…
And as you will deal, you will learn more & more, about yourself & your hidden capabilities. You will automatically formulate a first hand recipe for yourself that fits for your life exactly.
Always remember people there are no mistakes, only lessons….
At least dare to try out, something or the other will work out for you.
Again I am repeating that I am in no ways against being there for our near & dear ones in hour of need but I absolutely reject to become someone’s walking stick.
