Another check post crossed

Every event occurring in our life leave an impression on us. We show a propensity, either knowingly or unknowingly to mark all events as good or bad. Thus associating them with feelings of happiness or sadness. But if we make a conscious effort to have a close look at these events in isolation without associating them with feelings then they will seem as mere occurrences followed by our reaction. As the saying goes, life is 10% what happens with us & 90% how we react to it.
Eventually all such events leave us more learned. They enhance our understanding about life, about people & above all about ourselves. We cultivate a mature outlook & an in depth perspective.
Life is a series of events. Instead of marking them as good or bad just treat them like a check post in the journey called life. With every check post you cross, you move closer to your destination.
Due to a recent event, it seems as if i have crossed another check post of my life's journey. Though there is an outer crust of sadness but within, there is a very strange sense of calmness. It is my conscious choice that i am going to view it without being biased so that i learn most out of it & utilize it while moving ahead in my journey. Wish me luck :)

If......

Herez a beautiful poem by Rudyard Kipling, inspiring to carry on with high head :-

If you can keep your head when all about you,
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"

When nothing seems going right, go left

Life is full of choices. Often we feel confused which way to choose. Here is a simple test for all of us to try when we find ourselves struggling to choose between right & wrong.

Wrong things mostly provides us an easy way out, a quick fix solution thus they usually seem more tempting. Whereas the right things, they are difficult comparatively also we may not get instant gratification thus we need courage, faith & patience to choose them.

Wrong things provide momentarily pleasure or gain which is more self centered. But the right things, they provide long term gain more in a communal manner.

Right things may seem painful at present but in the long run, they are good not only for us but for the people around us on the other hand no matter how tempting wrongs things seem at present, in the long run they prove painful.

A Perfect Heart

Sharing here a beautiful story recently read :-
One day a young man standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he has the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered & they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truely was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud & boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.
Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd & said "why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine." The crowd & the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces had been removed & other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right & there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.
The people stared- how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought? The young man look at the old man's heart & saw its state & laughed. "You must be joking", he said. "Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect & yours is a mess of scares & tears."
"Yes", said the old man, "Yours is perfect looking but i would never trade with you. You see,
every scar represents a person to whom i have given my love- i tear out a piece of my heart & give it to them, & often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, i have some rough edges, which i cherish, beacuse they remind me of the love we shared. Sometimes i have given pieces of my heart away & the other person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges, -- giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love i have for these poeple too, & i hope someday they may return & fill the space i have been waiting for. So now do you see what true beauty is?"
The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young & beautiful heart, & ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart & then took a piece from his old scarred heart & placed it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his. They embraced & walked away side by side.
How sad it must be to go through life with a whole untouched heart....

My 'cheese' has been moved!

While reading a book called 'Who Moved My Cheese' by Dr.Spencer Johnson i came through a wonderful message told in a very simple yet interesting manner. I would like to share it in here:-

Change happens, they keep moving the cheese.

Anticipate change, get ready for the cheese to move.

Monitor change, smell the cheese often so you know when it is getting old.

Adapt to change quikely, the quicker you let go of the old cheese the sooner you can enjoy new cheese.

Change, move with the cheese.

Enjoy change, savor the adventure & enjoy the taste of new cheese.

Be ready to change quickly & enjoy it again, they keep moving the cheese.

Here cheese is metaphor for what we want to have in our lives, whether job, love, possession, health or spiritual growth. And the maze represents area where we are looking for what we want, organisation, family or community.

So the fact of the matter is that we are so much afraid of 'change' though it is such a natural phenomena. We do see it happening around us everyday yet we live in a state of denial. We have a tendency to get complacent. As soon as we get our 'cheese' we start believing that will be there forever. This craving of holding on to things forever doesn't allow us to enjoy what we have. We apply all our energy to hold on to it. And soon after when our 'cheese' is moved we are devastated. We start complaining, grumbling & get frustrated about the whole thing. So this book actually gives us an incredible way to deal with such situations when our 'cheese' is moved. Also it provides us simple methods by appling which we can prepare ourselves for further changes, in advance.

Things are difficult as long as we don't accept them as they are, once we accept them it becomes easier to move through them.

There is a saying i read in Geeta Saar -

"जो आज तेरा है वो कल किसी और का था और कल किसी और का होगा;तू इसे अपना समझ कर प्रसन्न हो रहा है; ये प्रसन्नता ही तेरे दुखो का कारन है"

EMBRACE CHANGE WHOLE HEARTEDLY & MOVE ON :-)

I am not busy

Standing on a bridge when i looked down all i could see is vehicles, rushing towards one direction or the other. It seemed as if they were running after something, trying to leave each other behind. I wonder if this is what we call 'rat race'?
Well i don't know much about it & always failed to understand, why people are so busy? Rather what are they busy in? I have tried to seek answer but hardly anyone could define purpose behind this race. Not satisfied with those answers, all i could get is that everybody wants to win this race not realising that when we are busy in this so called rat race what all we are missing.
While struggling to beat each other we forget to enjoy what we are doing. Whether it is studies or the work we do. We do most of the things just for the sake of doing, not knowing any purpose, not caring any effect. We just want to beat others to win the race. By the time we think we have won its actually we have lost so many things on our way unadvertently, parent's birthdays, child's birth, anniversary, list can go on. To all this we have same excuse 'no time, i am busy'. Frankly it sounds funny to me, what are we gaining by losing all those precious moments we could/should have been there with our loved ones. Whats the point in being so busy when we can't even do what we enjoy doing or enjoy doing what we do?
Whats the point in being so busy that we don't even have time to live our lives with our loved one's?
Time is precious no doubt but it is always there, we all are in time. We don't have to race against it instead just being with it is enough. Being more aware of what we doing right now, prioritising our needs not wants. There is a huge difference in our wants & needs. Our wants can be endless but our needs are limited.

I Am Beautiful !

Making such a statement might sound as if am being arrogant but if we go deep & feel than there is more to it. I feel, to appreciate any kind of beauty we need the right kind of vision. Usually we get caught up in the outer covering because of our limited vision & fail to go beyond the obvious. Actually we need to see through the outer shell to recognize the beauty lying underneath every creature on this planet.
As the saying goes 'beauty lies in the eyes of beholder' when we appreciate beauty its not the thing or the person that is beautiful but its our own outlook towards it that makes all the difference. To recognize & appreciate goodness in others, is actually giving a chance to our own goodness to shine through. We need to allow our goodness to come out by shedding all our pride, ego, hesitation etc & giving it a channel of expression.
Lets allow the beauty hidden in us to unveil,
try praising someone everyday! :-)

Reason to be happy!

Few days back while talking to one of my closest friend one of her question struck my mind. She asked me 'hows life!', i said enthusiastically 'life is great!' to which she asked why? what happened? i was surprised by her question. It gave me a picture as if she was expecting me to have a reason to be happy or enthusiastic about life. Is it necessary?
All our lives we are looking for happiness, all our endeavours are directed towards being happy at the end. But what we don't realise is that being happy is not an end but the means itself. If we can't feel happiness while doing something how do we expect to be happy after that endeavour is over? Isn't it similar to running after shadow?
I feel being happy is our very nature whereas sadness, anger, frustration, tension & all other negative emotions need a hanger or a reason. When all such reasons are sorted out, what remains is pure happiness.
Most of us are always looking for it outside however the source lies inside us & we don't even appreciate it.... :-)

Judgement Day

While talking to people i have observed they tend to judge others very quickly. They like to give a tag to everything & every person. Either good or bad, right or wrong, hot or not but i just wonder whats the basis of these judgements? How can we put a tag on something/someone when everything around us is changing?
I feel there is a huge craving in all to be certain about things or people around although we are not sure if all is going to be same in the next moment. I find it to be very bounding, rather i would like to be free & take things or people as they are. Its fun to observe the variations around yet having lots in common because deep down inside we are all the same. Same things give us pleasure, same things makes us all sad. So whats there to judge?
Is it to show off our superiority over other???
Hard question but need a thought...

I hope that people can acknowledge this fact, relax abit & just smile. So that we can enjoy the similarity hidden in dissimilarity.

Its raining

Good to be back :-)
Today woke up to see a pleasant view cold breeze, light showers, birds drenched in water singing in the balcony. Its been raining throughout last night.
After bearing heat for so long time finally its time to take sigh of relief. Relief from heat, sweat, dehydration, power cuts. It feels as if God is showering his Grace upon us. Can understand why peacocks dance & koel sings while its raining. Its time to get refreshed. Get drenched fully not only body but up to soul.
God is a magician! Having in store such beautiful seasons for us to enjoy.
But do we realise this & take time out to enjoy his magic? May be not because of the crazy rat race that we are trapped in.
Take out time, just stop for a minute on the road, in the balcony, open doors & windows.
See the rain;
Listen to the sound of rain drops falling, birds singing;
Smell the fragrance of earth;
Feel the drops falling on your face;
Feel the touch of God...
Just did it, its overwhelming!

Role Play

Why do we meet people during our journey of life?Some of which we like, some we don't.
Those whom we don't like don't bother us when they leave, probably we'll feel happy.But what about those whom we like....
It is then we feel pain, sadness, lonliness, dejected etc etc.
Thats how come to understand the theory of 'role play'.
We all have a particular role to play in each other's life.Whether it is parents, sibling, friend, lover, spouse, children, grand-children, neighbour, employee, employer, teacher, student etc.Whatever name has been given to the various relationships we experience in our lives we play a particular role.We learn some, we teach some, there is mutual give & take and thats how we grow.
We all act as a medium, instruments in the hands of God.
It is said in Bhagwat Geeta that we should keep ourselves away from craving and aversions,in which this role play theory proves helpful.
It helps to keep centered.
Now it depends solely upon us how well we play the roles given to us
God is watching :-)

God is a prankster

God is a prankster,

loves to play pranks on us.What ever situations,problems,crisis etc we may call it are just silly pranks planned by God.The only difference being the 'intention'.

When we humans play pranks on each other,we usually do it to bother someone,annoy,take some revenge or make fun but when God play pranks on us,the only purpose is to teach us a valuable lesson which helps us grow and understand ourselves better.It helps us to get closer to our true nature.

Else just imagine how come all our problems gets solved,all crisis gets over and all situations get changed.We might feel anger,frustation,depression,sad,hurt but at the end of the day we do come out of it.

Life is a journey of such pranks only.It will come to an end one day,when we will be back to where we belong.Then why take it so seriously and why not enjoy these games with God,our friend,philosopher and guide

Happy Journey!

Like a sky

Mind is like sky
where thoughts come & go like clouds.
In heavy storm,
like sky gets covered with clouds
so does mind gets covered with thoughts in crisis.
But when the storm pass away
what is left is a clear shining sky
so does when thoughts calm
what is left is a clear shining 'self'.
So the next time such storm of thoughts arise
Just breath...

Kinds of people

We are surrounded by different kinds of people.Some are wise and some are ignorant.Both are required for our personal growth as ignorant people make us feel wise whereas wise people make us feel ignorant.
Thank GOD i am surrounded with both.
